About David

It was December 1999 and everyone was talking about what would happen with Y2K just around the corner. David was not the least bit interested in that. He was too busy praying to the Lord for a new gift for the new millennium. David had worked in different professions and was successful, but there was still this lack. His heart desire was to do something new; something inspired from above. He placed all his talents and desires in the hands of the Lord. He asked the Lord to pick the gift and bring it forth. His only request was that this new gift would accomplish three things. First, he wanted it to glorify God in all the earth. Second, he wanted to have the same passion with this gift as he has with his music (the man can play a bass guitar). Third, he wanted this gift to prosper him abundantly so he could sow financially into the many missions and humanitarian works around the world. Six months later in May 2000, he enrolled in a 24 hour welding course at Creative Arts Center of Dallas. The third item he made was a cross and he hung it in his hair salon (He's also Dallas Observer's 2003 Best Men's Hairstylist and an expert in hair color). It sold immediately, so he made another one to take its place. It didn’t last very long either. After about 40 – 50 crosses sold, it dawned on him (he’s kind of slow) that this was the answer to his prayer. Since that time, thousands have been sold and now he is selling his crosses not only here in the states but all over the world. YES, God does answer the cries of our hearts when we are yielded to Him. All we have to do is ask. Jesus said, "You have not because you ask not." Start asking and get ready to receive!

Bio
David Broussard was born in southern Louisiana, right in the heart of Cajun country. He traveled for a few years playing bass in several bands before settling down in Dallas. For the last 20 plus years he has specialized in hair color. In May of 2000 he took a 24 hour welding course and has been hooked on heavy metal ever since. Being a Christian, David made a cross, hung it in his salon and someone asked him how much. He's been making crosses ever since!
David has been featured on 'At Home Live' which is aired on Family Net Television.

Designs
It's obvious David likes to do is think outside the box when it comes to designing crosses. "Each one of these crosses have a story behind them and that determines the shape and textures I place in the metal."
His crosses are hand made and because of this, you will not find any two alike. They may look similar, but just like each one of us is unique, so are these crosses. David welcomes custom orders and he is not limited to making only crosses. He makes beautiful tables, outdoor scupltures and various birds and animals.

Color

David does not use any tints, dyes or chemicals to produce the vibrant color found in his art. He uses only heat from a blow torch to achieve these fantastic colors. He calls this technique Flame Painting. The temperature of the flame and thickness of the metal along with other factors determine the colors. "Like water color, you've got to stay ahead of the game. If you make a mistake, you either live with it or sand it down and start over. David likens his flame painting to cajun cooking. "It's like making a roux for a gumbo. If you mess up, you've got to start all over again from scratch."
